Getting started

Setting up amoviti takes a first sitting of about an hour, then a few minutes whenever your life changes.

Setting up amoviti takes a first sitting of about an hour, then a few minutes whenever your life changes. You do not need to finish everything at once — a half-finished vault is still far more useful to your family than nothing.

Your first five steps

  1. 1.Take the readiness check. Five quick questions show where your family stands across documents, access, insurance, emergency planning and beneficiaries. If you took it before signing up, your score comes with you into your account.
  2. 2.Add your family and contacts in Family. Start with the people you would want called first: your partner, an adult child or sibling, your attorney and your doctor. Give each one an email address — amoviti reaches contacts by email.
  3. 3.Upload your most important documents. Your will, insurance policies, property deeds and identity documents. Five good documents are worth more than fifty stray ones.
  4. 4.Set up your hospitalization workflow. Decide who is called, in what order, and which documents they receive. This is the workflow most families need first, because it covers the emergency that happens most often.
  5. 5.Name who can confirm your death. Choose at least two people from your contacts. Until you do, the After I'm Gone workflow cannot run at all.

When you sign up, setup walks you through steps 2 to 4. Every step can be skipped and finished later from the Dashboard, which always shows what is left to do.

If you do only one thing

Do step 5. Most of amoviti keeps working with a half-finished vault, but the After I'm Gone workflow does not run at all until at least two people are named — and it is the workflow your family can least afford to be without.

A realistic first week

  • •Day one: readiness check, your five most important contacts, and your will and main insurance policy.
  • •Later that week: the hospitalization workflow and your two death confirmers.
  • •Over the following weeks: add the rest of your documents as you come across them, and record your accounts and property in Assets.

After setup

amoviti keeps you on track. The Dashboard shows the single most important next step, expiry reminders tell you before documents lapse, and life-event suggestions tell you when something in your life means your workflows need updating.
